I have always been told that bad things come in threes, but I think I am past three and do not really want to move on to six...
Jessie threw his back out a few weeks ago while working out. He over did it and paid for it. Also considering just as it healed he did some work on a tree in the front yard and threw it out again.
He considers this bad thing number one.
Then on Monday Matt and Esther Warren stopped in for a visit, and after our normal Monday night dinner at Ghengis Grill we decided to go see Hell Boy 2. On the way there we were met by the glorious hospitality of the Farmers Branch police. Our registration is expired. They were very polite as they ticketed us, and thankfully did not see that Jessie has a warrant out for not paying three expired registration tickets in Nac (he got them one after another over a three day period, two from the same cop)
That was thing two.
Then on Tuesday Jessie decided to stay home because his back was hurting, and while he was trying to rest his boss called giving him the news that he was being laid off. Yea Jessie just had to go and be one of the cool kids and lose his job.
They cut 1/10th of their company back, and Jessie was still low man on the totem pole in his office of 5. So they let him go with 4 weeks severance, including his commission, paid out his PTO (which was all of one day but still), and offered him first right of refusal should they rehire for the position within the next year.
That was number three.
Then today on the way home from work the car died, in the middle of traffic on Marsh, and Jessie is out there barefoot trying to push the car getting honked and screamed at by passing cars, and he was getting angry. Thankfully a very nice man in a truck pulled up behind us and used his truck to push us up to the next parking lot and then drove Jessie to get gas.
That was number four.
I think I am going to pretend Jessie's back being out is not a bad thing, but just a thing, so that we are now full up on our bad quota.
Jessie is looking for a new job, and hopefully he will get one quick enough that his severance can just turn into happy savings and help pay off some bills. We will be fine for a month without him working so I am not worried. He has never gone more than a month without a job, and his resume is better than it was the last time he looked for work, so I am confident.
I am positive.
It has been a week...
