Actually, Pat was right. Kine = Human. Kindred = Vampire. Otherwise, though, I would love to see you acting her out; this character sounds cool.
From my experiences with the Tremere it is a hard clan to play unless you know your rules really well (if you don't, then you just play a peon/gofer). Also, unless your ST is lax or you know your stuff and can rationalize and explain well, then you won't be allowed to have anything other than path of blood as your primary Thaum path. Blood is useful but, on the other hand, it does not mesh well with being a CS prof.
I agree with you that common sense is a fantastic merit to purchase (and worth way more than what it costs). Some players and STs are picky, though, about how much and when they'll give you hints.

Last, but not least, comment: Abi would like this character! If I ever show up at whatever game this is by any random chance (by the way, where will you be playing? Somewhere in Maryland?), as unlikely as that is, we'd get along! :) Please keep us updated on how she develops and how playing her goes!
