People suck sometimes
There's way to much cruelty in the world. As I was driving to work today there was a bit of a hold-up on the high-way and everyone was going slowly. The reason for this was a family of Ducks had decided they wanted to cross the four lane high-way to get to the bush on the other side. This was perfectly okay with most of the motorists, who just slowed down or went around them if they could as this is pretty common around where I live. There's signs and everything.
However one horrid person flew down the other side of the road with no regard for the traffic around him and ended up killing one of the adult ducks. This kind of thing happens all the time I know, but the really sad thing was the remaining adult Duck and all the little baby Ducks didn't understand that their mother/father was flat roadkill and wasn't going anywhere. The other adult was tugging on the flat one, pecking it to try and get it to move across the road and out of harms way. It didn't understand that it's mate was dead and only wanted it to get across the road to safety, so they could be a happy little Duck family.
I know it seems a bit silly but it made me really sad. There was no need for that driver to deliberately run over a poor defenceless animal, and it didn't even get him anywhere fast either- I saw him at the next set of lights. It was needless cruelty and even though it was just a Duck I can't help thinking how we as humans would feel if our significant other was killed just for moving from one spot to the other.
