I came, I saw, I canned.
The unrepentant mound of tomatoes from the farm share are now cooling in jars of our first experimental batch of spaghetti sauce and salsa, with a couple small pans of vegetarian lasagna in the freezer (and in our bellies).
The peppers spiced things up a bit, although luckily my left hand has finally stopped stinging from chopping the cayenne pepper. Fresh cayenne pepper is intense, yo.
Canning is a bit more cumbersome than I'd thought, but it's probably not so bad once you have the groove. Clean hot jars waiting, pressure cooker with hot water, plus simmering pot of something something means the kitchen's rather full when canning's going on.
Not that canning's the proper term, since the food's in jars. Cursed English. Heh. I canned.
