Holy Shit

Music Videos have been good today. Expect to see more once I'm finished watching. My left arm is almost full of names and songs.

Okay, I'm taking a break to let my little heart recover.

Oh my GOD! I'm going to, before I start naming any songs and bands, start with something Danko Jones once said.

"As time goes on, we realize we don't need friends. Because we've got Ipods. I'll tell you it is a problem, it is an affliction, and I admit that. I don't want to solve the problem, but I've got a problem. And that problem is I've got a fourteen year old inside my brain, talking to me, bugging the shit out of me. He's been in me since I was fourteen. Most people as they get older that kid gets smaller and smaller and eventually he or she leaves. But as time has gone on he's gotten bigger and louder and in more in control. He's the reason why once a week when I open the front door to my house I can't get out because the mailman has dropped dozens of cardboard boxes full of records on my doorstep that HE has won on ebay. While I'm trying to figure out how to fucking pay the rent he's on the computer winning auctions and he's the reason why I don't get much sleep at night because he'll wake me up and go 'Hey, hey, wake up.' 'What?' 'You've got to get up early tomorrow morning and buy the new Iced Earth album.' 'Now why do I gotta do that?' 'Because it's got THREE bonus tracks that we can't get back home!' So we go out to the record store and I buy him the new iced earth album because when you're fourteen everything blows you away. Everything fucking rocks. You're fourteen years old and your like, 'Motley Crue is so fucking cool! And Iron Maiden! Metallica! The stooges! John Coldtrain, fuck, Public Enemy!' it goes on and on everything you hear blows you away and as you get older and older you hear more music it's not the same, it gets longer and longer to get blown away. People like us, you keep searching because we want to recapture that feeling when we were fourteen that not only not rocked our hour rocked our day rocked our week and made us not do our homework that night it changed our lives, it separated us from people we used to hang out with and suddenly I don't wanna hang out with pat with the turtleneck red sweater anymore in the school yard and it kind of drew the lines in the sand with just that one song."

So with that said. Oh my GOD! So much good music this morning that just...maybe it's the lack of sleep but my GOD that just blew my ass away. Some of these I've heard before but...never really heard, you know?

Starting off with Eddy Grant with Electric Avenue. The Video was kind of boring, neat, but boring. But the song, oh my god, it was so cool.

Vixen, Edge of a Broken Heart. Now, although I am a sucker for female fronted bands if the vocals are good this was just a good song. Though not totally amazing.

Say Say Say by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson just totally blew my mind. The two of them sounded AMAZING together and it caused me to realize why people liked Michael Jackson back in the day. I mean, he was just an amazing dancer and an amazing singer. And Jawad, you have to learn the Bass to this song, I'm not even kidding. Oh my god.

In your Room by The Bangles, not much to say here but that song was just...wow.

INXS Need you Tonight/Mediate. The video was fucking AWESOME and so was the song. I want that video. I want that song.

Pink. Just, the musician. I had almost forgotten how cool she was. I'm glad I remembered.

What is Love by Howard Jones. The video was awesome, and the song was just so well done. It's just...wow. Just wow.

Wild Boys by Duran Duran. The song was totally awesome but the Video really stole the show. It's probably one of my favorite videos now, present and classic.

One Night in Bangkok by Murray Head. The sing-talk style of the singer plus the chorus done by several individuals was so neat. The video was kind o cool too, definitely up there on my list of videos.

Heart with Who will I run to? The talent in that song,I can't even remember what it was exactly but I'm inclined to believe that it was the guitar that really grabbed me at first.

Stray Cats with Stray Cat Strut. Fucking AWESOME song with an amazing video. The guitar work in that song is neat.

John Mayer, just the musician. I, at first, didn't really like him. But he's really grown on me and I appreciate just how good of an artist he really is.

Billy Idol with White Wedding and Rebel Yell Version2. White Wedding, the video was SO neat, and hearing him talk about how the wedding sequence was kind of like showing both sides to the teenagers of the time, with the romanticist side combined with the sort of punk rebel side. He also stated for the record that sliding the barbed wire ring on the bride's finger was not his idea and was in fact his wife's idea. Rebel yell, oh my god, I mean, I've heard it before but jesus christ! The guy who plays guitar with him(who STILL plays guitar with him) is an AWESOME fucking guitarist. That and his outfit in that video was just so god damn cool.

I've always kind of said how, after watching some eighties music stuff that I am really kind of glad that I missed it but I mean, really, it would have been so awesome to be around during all of that. I mean, it was so amazing. And I feel almost kind of gyped that I missed it. But then again I'm sure kids will be saying that about the 90's and now and every decade after for as long as music is a major popular part of our culture.

I can't wrap my mind around people who say they don't like music, of any kind. I, maybe I have just too much of a pea brain but I just can't wrap my head around that. Music is in everything, it's all around us and how can anyone say they don't like at least some form of music. I mean, I know I talk bad about rap a lot because, for the most part I hate it. But I mean, if that's your thing, that's great. Embrace it, I mean, music. Music is such an essential part of who we are, not just on an individual basis but as a general whole in our society. If someone says that they don't like music, then they aren't looking hard enough. There will be something, ANYTHING that will just grab you by the throat, slap you around and then throw you flat on your ass. And it'll be spectacular and you'll love it.

And I think the single most greatest gift I've EVER been given is my guitar. I mean, listening to music is amazing, I LOVE it and it's one of the greatest things in the world. But being able to PLAY music and all that is really something that's special. It's like a higher level or a deeper connection with the concept of music that I would have never been able to experience had it not been for the guitar. And it's truly wonderful.
