Don and I made it through the holiday relatively unscathed although we did have three big meals at our place in less than 24 hours. First meal: X-mas eve with his two kids, my oldest girl and her boyfriend. My stepson made his famous Mexican lasagna and I made a green salad and flan for dessert. Don made his traditional x-mas eve hor dourve of baked brie with walnuts. Lots of drinking.
Second meal: breakfast on x-mas morning. Don cooked sausages from Kramurczk's (best butcher and deli ever!) and blueberry-walnut pancakes. Much drinking of coffee. Same crowd as the night before PLUS youngest daughter, son-in-law, three grandsons ages 5 yrs, 2 yrs, 8 months. Opened many presents and stockings. Much squealing on the part of the grandsons and me (thanks for the jewelry Don, love you much!)
Third meal: X-mas dinner. I put a ham (from Kramurczk's the best butcher shop ever!), sweet and white potatoes in the oven, cooked a side of green beans, baked a cherry pie, sliced chesse for hor dourves. In our condo for this event were Don and I, my sister and brother-in-law, my daughter and son-in-law plus their three sons, my oldest daughter and her boyfriend, my niece and her boyfriend. That's 10 adults and 3 children for dinner in our condo. Much opening of presents, much drinking by me, lots of drama from my sister, very happy, then tired and cranky grandsons.
I'm not gonna do this next year. Nope, nope, can't make me.
