Going to be in Chicago...

for the jazz festival over Labor Day weekend. We will arrive on Saturday and leave on Monday. Hopefully, we can get together with our good friends at some point in the weekend, but it is not looking good, between the jazz and their social obligations (wedding and festivities) it might not be possible. Oh well.

I get so excited every time I take a trip, even for just a weekend, that I can't hardly concentrate here at work and all I can do is make packing lists and surf the net for places to see, things to do, cafes to eat in at my next destination. It doesn't matter if it's Iowa City, IA or Machu Picchu, Peru, all I can think about is the trip. I desperately need to win the lottery, I just want to travel wherever and whenever I want. I haven't been bitten by the travel bug, I've been bitten by the Travel Behemoth, the god of restless feet and wandering minds. Don and I have even been thinking about signing up for a home exchange membership (although it is much harder to get someone to exchange with you when you live in Mpls, MN than, say, New York or San Francisco).

So, within less than a year I have traveled to, or will travel to: Merida, Mexico for 10 days last January, annual jazz road-trip over the 4th of July week to Iowa City, IA, St. Louis, MO and Kansas City, MO, the upcoming road-trip to Chicago for Labor Day weekend and the huge family, 6-day vacation at the all-inclusive resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico coming up in November. I am all ready thinking ahead to next year, I would like to go to Tunis or Ireland. It's a disease I tell you.
