friendster is so french
so the internet is a bastard. that's obvious. i'm not really laying new ground with that. it's great, too, don't get me wrong, but in terms of the labyrinthine logics and coincidental things it pulls, maaaaaaang. point is, the internet just told me it is chris smalley's birthday and so i went to friendster, where we are still friends and wrote him a message (i don't know why) and then, because i do things, i checked my inbox. the most recent unread message was from 2005. TWO THOUSAND FUCKING FIVE!!! we're 7/10ths of the way through a decade that people thought was going to kill us or not happen or beckon in an era of cheap, flying/hovering, personal transport and i have unread messages from two years ago, but what confounds me further, is that nobody else on friendster seems to have any activity more recent than 2005. wait, what the fuck? this post sucks.
