Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and all that jazz. Melanie and I rang in the new year this morning by using old food coloring and empty cosmetics bottle to make a festive display in the back yard. (Martha Stewart intended.) Yesterday we went to Linwood and Betty's house for watchingtheadultsdrinkthemselvessilly time. We had to take Harry because he's in town, as his brother recently died. I do believe he had boozed himself into forgetting about it by about noon. Poor Harry. So we stayed until about two in the morning. I sewed beads on the purse that my cousin Cheyenne bought me as I've seen a million people with the same purse, but I fully intend to use it because it is HUGE.
Among the lovelier things I got for Christmas: a ratcheting boat seat (not for boat use) and a NEW ACOUSTIC!! We went to North Carolina and the kids were very nuts. Audrey is the cutest thing under the sun, Jeremy is the biggest nerd I've ever met in a 6 year old, and Cameron has "too much muscle definition" for a 4 year old. It was extremely fun.
Today I was trimming the mat of this painting I love which has this awful framing job so I could stick it in this 3 layer picture frame, and I slipped with the exacto knife and put it through my thumbnail. That was fun. It looks real pretty too. There's a big black gash in my nail and dried up blood under it that I can't clean out. For some reason I always manage to inflict embarrassing wounds on myself right before we go to see the relatives...
P.S. Rasputina is truly lovely.
