(no subject)
for down_fell_jill, WEEKS overdue : All Along the Watchtower by Bear McCreary, from BSG 3x20 "Crossroads". still gives me fucking shivers every time i hear it.
this is somewhat topical, because this post is serving to announce that i will indeed be writing trek/bsg crossover for startrekbigbang, unless some other epic idea invades my brain between now and july 20th (my mental cut-off date for allowing myself to change my mind). go on, tell me i'm a fucking loon. i know it. but i wrote about 1000 words of it today just while sitting at my desk at work, and i am in way over my head. in fact, i may get to the point where i realize the idea is too BIG for big bang, in which case i will either find another idea to do for big bang, or split the crossover thing into manageable parts and do the first part for big bang.
Kirk goes over the next day with the repair detail, Scotty and Gaila and a handful of the other engineers who're all but slavering over the prospect of a real vintage FTL drive to wrap their wrenches around. They beam onto the hangar deck, into the midst of a busy throng of people in orange who all try really hard not to stare, a big bear of a guy shouting orders and everyone scrambling to get out of his way. They watch a fighter jet roll by, a pilot's name and callsign printed under the cockpit, and Kirk elbows Scotty in the ribs. "Just make sure Sulu never hears about these or he'll defect." Scotty smothers a guffaw as Kara clatters down a ladder toward them, Agathon in tow. "Morning boys," she says, turning her grin up a few extra watts as she looks them over. When she gets to Jim, she smirks. "Kirk. Looking like the underside of a three-day-old tire track, as usual. Is this what you call 'early' in Starfleet?" Jim snorts. "You know how I like to make an impression."
i'm not kidding, i have a problem. they just write themselves, i can't help it. :3
also, my giant recs post of d00m is finished, for your consideration. i forgot to write in the post, but anything of any pairing that is missing from that list (in any of your estimation) feel free to link me, 'cause i plan to keep updating the post and would like it to be as comprehensive as possible. :3
