okay people, start your fucking engines.
the entire cast for the game of thrones pilot is confirmed except for "one key role" (which i'm taking to mean jon arryn or lysa arryn, as they're referred to many times in the first few chapters, so possibly some flashbacks? idk, who am i missing?) but AT ANY RATE. the pilot starts filming next week in ireland and morocco, and HBO could make a decision about it as early as the spring, which means it could start airing as soon as next fall.
i can't even tell you guys how much this makes me flail. this series is my favorite. there's almost nothing i can compare it to in terms of character development, plot twists and surprises, complexity of world-building... i know i'm never going to be an epic fantasy writer, but god, if i did want to be, this series would probably make me hang up my hat. it's just flawless (apart from the bit where he's pushed back the date of the next installment for like two years running!) and if any of you haven't read it, you should.
there's also the part where when i first joined tabula rasa (four years ago next week, holy SHIT) i was just rereading the series in anticipation for AFFC coming out, and when i stumbled upon this newly formed RPG i was so immersed in asoiaf i knew i needed to bring someone from it. i've played jon snow for four years, and in march i'll have played sandor clegane for four as well. it really takes a lot of love for a canon for me to play someone that long. :"3 and since you asked, i'm quite pleased with the casting for both of them. (in case any of you haven't seen the commercial that sandor's actor is from, watch that shit NOW and get ready to laugh your ass off.) i'm actually pleased with everyone; bean is probably my least favorite not because i dislike him but b/c he's so boromir to me it'll be really hard to shake. also as my fellow TR residents know, daniel day lewis is my ned. :3 i love jennifer ehle as cat and lena headey as cersei, and of course i'm wild about peter dinklage. and jason fucking momoa, holy SHIT, i haven't even seen more than 2 eps of SGA and i'm excited. :3
alright, that's enough out of me for now. i have actual things to do with my life today, including finally finishing my MA state taxes and watching all of glee.
