i may not have luck with men oh in the past....i was going to list how many years but i think 23 years may be the accurate number.

BUT.

i love my job. i also really like doing what i want.
i was watching grey's anatomy tonight and the surgery they opened the episode with, i saw like 10 seconds and i was like OH MAN SHE'S DOING A HIPEC. HIPEC stands for hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. which means, they open a patient, they pour hot chemo inside of them and roll them around while massaging the chemo into their guts. this is important because they're using it to treat ovarian, colon, and appendicile cancers right now, all of which have had poor prognoses in the past.
the cool thing is, St. Agnes is one of the only hospitals in the country who do this (or i may be mistaken about that, but people come from all over the country and sometimes other countries to have this procedure done at St. Agnes by Dr. Esquivel, first name Jesus - that's actually not a joke, he's such a cool doctor, but i had never met him and i got my first HIPEC patient and i was like ... THE ATTENDING IS JESUS? WHY DON'T I KNOW THIS DOCTOR)

i'm absolutely fascinated by the HIPEC procedure. however, i dread taking care of these patients. they often come back in EXCRUCIATING pain, and if they're still on a ventilator they chances are that they are unable to use a PCA (pain button - nurse and family memebers can't press them, so a patient ahs to be alert to use one) --- and anyway the pain is ignored by our intensivists more often than not....and you have to get them up out of bed first thing in the morning-which is important but you try to convince someone in the worst pain of their life to get up and sit in a chair. it's complete hell.

anyway i love my job.

i also kind of like my gym, and it's 24 hours which is wonderful. and i really like doing whatever i want.
i'm making dinner for my parents on saturday....i'm most excited about these cupcakes i'm making with a white chocolate blueberry frosting though.

oh and also, this is important news: i love broccoli.
