And so this is Christmas....

Had chrissie in Newcastle with my dad, little bor and grandparents, which was nice. It did, however, involve me cooking christams lunch for 7 people. The reason for this is that my grandmother is the kind of person who stresses to the max about EVERYTHING!!! and she's also getting a bit old. So, in the interests of us all having a pleasant christmas, I volunteered to do everything (I figured that she'd stress, and we'd all have a horrible time if she did it, if I did it it would be heaps of work, but I wouldn't get all stressed about it, and we'd probably all have a much better time). The problem with that is that she has an inbiult stress monitor... and she wasn't stressing enough... so she had to lurk about telling to do stuff I'd already done and finding problems with perfectly good potato salad. I almost threw the bloody potato salad at her, I really did.
Anyway.. but I had a nice day nonetheless, even if it was more intense and more stressful than it should have been. And I got some ace presents. I got this beautiful red Italian leather bag from my dad and his partner - almost the same as one I'd seen recently and commented on, only nicer. And my mum bought me this amazing painting by this artist she knows.. so cool!! And my grandparents gave me, just in passing (like, it wasn't going to be part of my present) this relly cool antique, family heirloom chain that belonged to me great-grandmother (who is responsible for my middle name, and represents the only part of my heritage that isn't celtic).
Am back home today, after coming back from newie on the train yesterday (argh is all I have to say about that)... and found he house in a seriously scode-ish state (ie, really messy-gross - noah obviously got excited before leaving for the country).. caught up with my scottish friends last night, who arrived in the country on the 23rd.. lovely people - the bought me a bottle of really yummy, peaty, mmmmmness scotch....
We be having a NYE bbq on, amazingly, NYE... my sydneysider friends, don't forget!
