Watching the Olympic opening ceremony... I can't help but think, what if these performers had not been compelled to act? what if each had gone their own way in dance or choreography. What if each person had had their own voice? The spectacle was beautiful, possibly more beautiful than any that had come before. But does it wash away the horrors of the past? Not so much.
