Three Things

1. Hey, you know, I'm still off of caffeine. Turns out that I've sort of naturally transitioned into being caffeine-free (except for the occasional chocolate or "I didn't know that had caffeine oops" type thing). The warm cuppa something something that's been in my hands every morning is Good Earth's Original Sweet and Spicy Tea, and it's fabulous. It's strongly flavored, it really is sweet, and it really is spicy. I don't feel the need to add sugar or milk; it's truly just wonderful as it is, and I'm pleased to have replaced a caffeine + sugar + fat drink with a no sugar + no fat + no caffeine drink. Boo yeah.

2. This is how you say "How are things?" in Swahili: Habari gani?

3. I tried a new method of cross-training today. (I'm training to walk a walk-a-thon in November.) Before, I was exercising to my yoga DVDs on non-walking days, but there was a logistics problem. I exercise first thing in the morning. Mr. Roommate shares a wall with the TV room. I didn't want to turn on the sound when he was trying to sleep ('cause we're talking, like 6:00 AM here), so I was trying to yoga in silence. Nice thought, but I'm not familiar enough with the positions and routines to do them without vocal help from the instructor. So, just this morning I switched to a calisthenics routine that I can do in the living room. It's a cycle: ten girlie pushups, ten crunches, ten side lying leglifts on one side, ten side lying leglifts on the other, roll onto hands and knees and do ten leglifts on either side from that postion, and then it's back to ten girlie pushups... And hey, what do you know, it worked for me. Now I've got that pleasant glowing endorphiny feeling. And you know what? When I was cooling off by doing a wall sit (the better for your thighs, my dear) I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. Messy pony tail, glowing face, happy eyes. I looked gorgeous. Yeah baby.
