Hello!
RL, my new nephew, writer's block and lots of works. These are my excuses for a late update. I'm going on holidays in a few hours and I'm not able to sleep and the muses seems to be playful tonight so here is a short chapter 9.
I'm having some problems with this part of the story: I know so well what I want to happen but I don't know how to get there exactly and how to link it with the rest of the stories. So bear with me and I asked a little more of your patience. I'm taking a notebook with me to write in the long wait at the airport between planes or in the dead hours or just simply write down some notes with new ideas. So when I come back next someday I hope I have something to post.
Anyway, thanks for keeping with me and comments are happiness to me. I have in mind another all G/M silliness for the next one. Let's see how it goes.

Marian's eyes travelled from the glove to the blank paper and back. There was not an easy way to start a letter meant to break a heart. But she was not in love of Robin, she knew that for sure now, and she had learnt from her deceiving Guy once and over again.
Dear Robin
I wish you could be here, then everything would be much easier for us both. Nottingham is not the peaceful place we dream together and things are rough here. I know you are fighting for England side by side to your beloved King, which is mine but... Sometimes in life you must set some priorities and England will always be yours, the same way Nottingham becomes mine a long time ago.
I know we've made promises when we were together in Acra but now I'm no longer able to keep them. Today I realized I didn't know myself at all, that I've been fooling myself for years. You will always be my childhood sweetheart but I'm not a child anymore. My feelings for you will always remain pure and innocent as children are but I'm a woman now and... Oh, Robin! This could never happen if you were here, but I was always the second in your affections. That's not the way a man in love would act. I can't tell you what you feel but I'm most certain your love isn't as stronger as you think.
There's somebody. Someone who loves me unconditionally and stays by my side against all odds. I know this is gonna hurt but I must tell you the truth, you must know for me. I'm in love of Sir Guy.
All this time I refused to admit it but I suffered so much when I left him back without knowing what it would be of him, if he was dead or alive. There's a part of him I never knew, the part that loves me even against his own will, that treasured every moment, every word we shared...
Now he's determined to let me go. For once he's not chasing me, he's not pursuing me with no end and he believed I'm just playing with his feelings like I did before. So I must prove him this time it's true. This time I'm his, heart, mind, body and soul and I'd agree to be his wife if he had me... But I can't do this without breaking any previous commitment I have.
You may hate me now because of this letter, and believe me it was not easy writing at all but it's what I must do for my future happiness and yours.
I don't know if Guy will believe a word of what I'm telling you, I don't know if he will stay here in Nottingham as an outlaw, maybe he leaves England forever and as much as it costs me I know I follow him wherever he may go. I've already wasted too much time and I have a long battle ahead just to make him believe my words...
I will not say goodbye to you, Robin. I don't want to but I will understand if you never speak to me again cause I've made both of you suffer because of my indecision.
Robin, my dear friend, I hope you'll find in your heart a place for forgiveness. God knows I would love to call you my friend once you're back to England.
Marian of Knighton
Perhaps it was not enough but she couldn't think anymore. She couldn't explain anything else cause she still had to deal with her own feelings. She sealed the message with the Knighton coat of arms and put it inside the glove under her pillow. Then she called for Sarah and asked for a bath. She was exhausted and prepared herself to bed as soon as she took that bath.

While Lady Marian fought her feelings, Allan was trying to overcome his. After leaving Marian, he went directly to the kitchens looking for Sarah. The maid was getting a tray ready for her lady when the former outlaw appeared just behind her back, leaning on the doorframe. Sarah could feel his eyes on her neck and turned around.
"Beautiful view from the back and even more from the front." he said, smiling widely to her.
"I thought you were with Sir Guy at this time"
"I'm here to say goodbye" he almost whispered, coming closer.
"So goodbye, Dale! I wish you well!" she gasped avoiding his look.
"Sarah, please..." he continued whispering "I know I'm not the best you can get..."
Somebody entered the kitchens this very minute.
"You still here?" Lady Georgia questioned Allan. "I thought I told you to get rid of him, Sonia!"
"Yes, my lady. At once." Sarah asked as she curtsied.
"And make sure Lady Marian gets whatever she may need."
Allan turned around to leave but made a stop next to Lady Georgia just to whisper in anger: "Her name is Sarah, right?"
Lady Georgia ignored the commentary and he repeated in a louder voice:
"Right?"
"You must leave this very second or I'll call the guards."
"First, her name!" he insisted. "What's her name?"
"Guards!" she yelled.
"Allan, go now, please!!" Sarah begged. "Please! For me!"
"Escort him to the door" she said to Sarah. "If I saw him again around the castle..."
Sarah hurried out from the kitchen grabing Allan's arm so strong it hurts. When they were at castle gates, she released him.
"You hurt me!" he exclaimed. "One more day by your side and I'll be sent to an early grave."
"Fortunately, we never meet again"
"Hey, why do you say that? Of course we'll meet. Sir Guy won't give up and you won't leave Lady Marian. I know you care for her."
"Leave!"
"Sarah... Please, don't be so headstrong! We have fun together, don't we? At least we could be friends..."
"I need no friends. Leave!"
"Sarah... " he tried once more.
"I mean it!"
"This is how it's gonna be between us from now on?"
She turned around and walked away.
"Right! Fine! Whatever!" he yelled at her in anger. Then left. "Who needs women after all? I've got me life"

The sheriff and his friend seemed to be strong men since they hardly slept and stayed awake most of the night making no good plans for King, England or even Lady Marian. Once Winchester, Jr. had admitted how he hated that woman and how he let his feelings overcome any reasonable or strategic thought over revenge served as a cold dish, this new sheriff was pretty much ready to help him getting rid of the little lady.
"I thought you've grown to love her. I saw the way you looked at her when she is around" Winchester remarked.
"Yes. She would be such a tasty bite to my senses but... I've got Georgie like a hound dog waiting for me to fall into temptation" he confessed.
"Are you afraid of your own household lady? "he asked in surprise.
"She's my wife, Winchester and... though we like thinking we are the strong sex, they had such a hold on us. I've learnt through the years it's better not to displease Georgie or at least not letting her know."
"Can you hear what I think for that little wench of Knighton?"
"I will be delighted" he answered back.

Guy was almost happy to see Allan's cheeky face again. His longtime companion didn't look like a happy man though. He sat down in silence next to Guy and waited a few minutes.
"Empty hands" he said in a whisper.
"It can't be. This chest had nothing inside to make it valuable, I mean... I took good care to that."
"Then you might be losing your skills 'cos ain't got nothing there."
"That's not what's troubling you, is it? Something went wrong, Allan, and you are afraid to tell me."
"You were right." And then he looked at the small amount of wood pilling up for a bonfire just in front of him.
"Allan... " he called him.
"Love hurts when it's unrequited" he simply stated "And as for that matter, Lady Marian is at the castle but I never dare to say safe. That bitch working to the Sheriff is having a great effort to look for something all over the castle and I reckon it could be the same thing we are searching for. Do you have a backup plan?"
"This was my backup plan. Main plan was kill the king in Acra and be Sheriff of Nottingham."
"Really were gonna kill him? " Guy nodded. "What makes you changed your mind?"
"Marian" they both said in a chorus.
"You think a man can change and a woman is worth the change?" he asked Guy trying to clear his own thoughts and feelings.
"Obviously I do but it's too late for me now. I've wasted all my chances being faithful to the wrong person."
"I believe your life has improved so much so this very day. You were both spending some time alone and the lady didn't look upset."
"But you do. "he gasped to avoid the question. "Something's wrong in the kitchen. All maids are older enough to be your grandmother?"
"What are we gonna do next? " he asked, not feeling in the mood to keep talking "I'm not being funny, but it ain't easy getting into the castle.
"This time we will find that box. It's somewhere inside the castle and I'll retrieve it no matter what."
"Once more, I don't even have a clue how" he said a little tired. "Guy... Maybe we should let it go. Maybe the Sheriff hide it in some supersecret place and we never find it cause he took this secret to the grave"
"No, no... I'm sure it's still in there. Vaisey wouldln't have risked the chance of ..." Allan sighed.
"Would you please tell me once and for all what's so precious to be hang for"
"Allan, I can't..." he started but Allan stopped him.
"Ye, all that crap about protecting me! I'm a grown up, you know and I think by this time so far I was the one in charge. I thought we were no longer master and servant but friends. Maybe I was wrong" he said, putting himself to sleep and turned his back to Guy.
"But Allan..."
"Good night, my lord!"
Perhaps he was right, Guy thought. It was time to learn to trust. God knew Allan was always by his side so that kept him very alive till this very minute. The reasons unknown yet but he remained there, all chatty and irreverent most of time but always faithful. If he said something must be done, no wonder Allan would do it. He may use it as the subject of his non-stopping chat but he would do it.
"Allan" he called.
"Not now, Sir Guy" he remarked. "I'm not in the mood"
***
"I need your help to that" he said to the Sheriff.
"I can't promise you a woman who is bethroted to another man, Winchester. Can't you understand that?"
"You can if I do something about it." Winchester assured with a wicked smile. "I have planned a night visit to the lady in question a few days before I leave Nottingham. And after that, Perfect Maid Marian wouldn't be so perfect neither so maid."
"Are you going to...?" Foxley inquired, not daring to end the question.
"Certainly not that night. I have something in my mind for our first night together, so I'll just knock her out and pretend and in knocking her out is where your help is required."
Then he produced a small little flask with a strange orange liquid and handed to his friend.
"What's this?" he asked observing the thin tube between his fingers.
"I don't know exactly what it is but what it gets. Three small drops of this in a cup of wine and you'll have the unfortunate soul who drinks it at your entire mercy leaving no trace in the memory of the subject when the effect is gone."
"Oh, Lord! This is great! Where did you get it?"
"An alchemist on the port. Dad used to make bussiness with him long ago. He's a legend to some of us." he explained. "What I need from you is to drop this in Marian's wine."
"You just can't do it yourself?" he wondered.
"You really believe that awful woman would grant her presence at any table I could be?"
"So three drops on her wine?" he repeated.
"Three drops. No more, no less. Be careful about it."
"Consider it done." the Sheriff said.
She was tired and was in need of some rest but her mind can't let it go. The kiss! That kiss was a living proof of how she felt about Guy. She made herself believe her change of heart was because of the nice words -and even not so nice ones- describing Guy's feelings in the letters. But the trurth was this man was... was a master at many other things apart from Arms. Her own body melted just with the thought of it.
On the other side of the balance was Robin, sweet Robin. So full of ideals, so naive in many ways and still someone she could not rip apart from her life. That's what something she was really scared of. How to explain both of those men the need of the other in her life..
She rose up from the bed and went straight to the chest. Open the lid and looked for something she promised herself to read. She got back to bed and started reading.
She's been here. Tonight. At the most inconvenient of hours but... God! I could hardly believe my eyes when I heard the servant announced her and she gently gave him her cloak Her face was iluminated by the candlelight and it was so painfully beautiful and unfair not be allowed to touch her. With other women it's only a matter of bedding. One, two maybe three nights and I grow tired of them but Marian... Marian makes me wanna be the man she could be proud of, someone he can trust and someone who can show her what it feels to be loved like a real woman... I could feel the way she stared at me, I could hear her sigh, I could feel her blush coming to her cheeks. Yet still, she pretended not to notice I was half naked. I felt her trembling when I came near her and asked for the reason.
"There have been bad blood between us" she just said her eyes to her shoes. I can't recall exactly what I said to provoke such a movement but she tried to caress my chest and one of her fingers almost got there but something made her step back and the moment was gone.
i know I was babbling about how Marian's stirred by me but never really believed my own words till this very moment. Probably next morning everything will go back to its routine and she despised my every word but tonight, tonight I discovered she's not so indifferent to my touch and in time could feel more than she would be able to admit.
I should go and find some maid to fill this void but I know there's nobody but her. I don't want any woman if not hers. My own body refused other hands to caress. There's no hope for me if I can't have her.
She remembered that night so clearly. This tall dark handsome man aproaching her, with his muscular chest and thighs, both alone in a badly illuminated room. The dim light created such an intimate enviroment that she was not sure if she likes it or really hated it. Thank God she had the chance to see Robin looking through the window and managed to restrain herself enough. If Hood had never appeared she might be Lady Gisborne by this time but for the most wrong of reasons.
It was done, she said to herself. Robin will be left behind as soon as she posted the letter and she had the urgent need to see Sir Guy again. That kiss was not enough, not now that she has learnt to appreciate the beauty and the inner feelings of it. It was as her whole body was shaken to the core leaving her with no other choice than giving into him and kissed him back.
However, she must be very careful. Guy would never believe this sudden change of heart. Truth be told, feelings were always there but she tried to ignore them. "I will keep giving" he said once and since then there have been many other things apart from jewellery or trinkets that she had received from him: love, support, protection, hathred, honesty, lies, and three marriage proposals... But never indifference. Not even when he pretended to hate her.
On the other hand, Robin's affection were like a lighthouse beam: sometimes you feel it, sometimes you don't and the focus came back and so on. They had spent most of their lives together, he claimed to love her and be engaged at a very young age but then he joined his real love: King Richard's army. He decided to fight for England and asked her to wait. But she was not waiting kind. The nightwatchman appeared and her personal battle with Gisborne gave her such a thrill. Never stop and consider perhaps it was more than the battles what set that little fire inside her on.
Her line of thoughts became blurry when her eyes asked for the rest her body claimed. She went to bed and touched the glove under her pillow with the other one in hand. She longed to touch more than leather soon.
Next thing in the morning, post the letter to Robin and find Guy.
