I have been thinking about this concept for over a year now, and I feel very passionate about it.
We all are artists. Everyone. And there is so much fear we have, as a society, to be judged for our art, or to be judged as conceited concerning it, that we don't even share it. (Obviously this doesn't mean EVERYBODY). But I was feeling so very much like sharing any of my artwork would be destructive or mislead people that it actually killed any creativity I had at the time. I have chosen to share it-- not because I think I am great or anything, but because this is the only way to keep me going-- to share. And hopefully inspire others to do the same. So, hopefully none of you think I am trying to boast or anything.
This is one of my favorite quotes:
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are born to manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
------Nelson Mandela
1994 Inaugural Speech
Now, whether we believe in a God or not, we still have divine creativity and beauty within us... we are selling ourselves short by not sharing this, because this is it's sole purpose.
