Man, oh man....what a show last night....

The Eden Express certainly did not disappoint. In addition to the angel winged & robed man and the others outfitted interestingly as well, their performance was blessed with a randomly placed gorgeousness. Amazingly powerful and unexpected movements within the songs, as well as a let-loose-and-fly attitude. No apologies, just beautiful music. Sometimes rough and a bit unshaped, but also moving in those elements as well. Wish I could've heard more.

Our set was strange and surreal...as it should be. Jason definitely showed his lovely and strange and sometimes shockingly powerful voice full force, and I loved it. It was nice to not be so upfront....and to watch it become something great.

Last came The Stares. I immediately was overcome with their music. I am really not a great reviewer of music...all I can say is that their set kept the tremors and waves that only incredible art brings, coming. Chills and beauty and lusciousness washed over... We spent money we didn't have on the album. You know it's good when you spend money you shouldn't on it. This album will definitely be circulating in my mind and in my surrounding air for a while. I didn't want it to end. But sadly, they all do.

I love Sugarbeats. It is the most amazing, intimate, fun and accepting environment we could ask for to participate in. The musicians can't escape to a backroom before greeting the audience...they have to face you and talk. Like real people do. Like all musicians should. We are all human entities, here to share all the beauty and love and art we have with eachother-- I wish all musicians were like this. No entourage, no larger-than-life personae. Just us. Just you and me and honesty.
