Your ear is being a slut.
Friday evening I got my right ear dermal punched, this time at 0ga. I figured it would be relatively the same amount of pain, just with lots more blood. It certainly did bleed a lot more and was actually a fair bit more painful. This was mostly due to the need to frequently apply pressure to stop the bleeding... It really did not want to stop bleeding.
As a point of interest, despite being in more or less the same area, the thickness of cartilage varied. Left ear was just shy of 3mm (or 1/8", the depth of a tattoo), and the right ear was just over 3.5mm.
The most unpleasant part this time around (the crunching noise was significantly more quiet) was washing my hair that night. Squeeze all the blood out of a few steaks, microwave said blood and take a big whiff. That's probably close to what my hair smelled like... A fucking slaughter house. Bleh.
Oh yeah, blood stains hair! I guess because my hair is still quite dry from being bleached it got an oh so spooky dye job around my ear. I've washed it twice and that area is still a few shades darker pink than the rest.

If you look carefully, the toothpick is pointing at the small scar left from a 14ga piercing that'd been closed for at least a couple years.
