[in no order]

1. bob dylan-girl from the north country
i think it's mainly because it's just an honest love song, written about one of dylan's ex girlfriends. it's about a girl he really loved but isn't with anymore for reasons undefined, and i just think it's like a beautiful piece of a story he doesn't finish telling. it's a songwriter's dream

2. garbage- you look so fine
i think this is a really soul-baring song about a woman who loves someone so much that his involvement with her almost feels like a hostile takeover of her heart, and i think anyone can relate to such a feeling. when i first heard this song i was about fourteen, and i'd never heard a song i could relate to as much as i could with that one. this is when shirley manson became one of my favorite people ever

3. bouncing souls-hopeless romantic
i love this song cos i first heard it when i started getting into punk rock, and it was at a time when i didn't understand relationships & it almost gave me perspective on different types of people....it's really upbeat, a feel-good song. i'll always think of my youth when i hear this

4.gary jules- mad world
when i finally saw donnie darko, i was introduced to this song, and i think it's rediculously honest perspective on how the world works. i remember many days sitting and listening to it and thinking about how crazy the world really is.

5. frank sinatra- i did it my way
this song will always make me think of my late grandma mezey, for a couple of reasons. the lyrics of the song are exactly how she lived her life and everything that she learned and experienced....we ended up playing this song at her memorial service and i think it was the best choice of song for her.

6. social distortion- don't take me for granted
this song cheers me up a lot because it makes you realize how important you are and how you should never be taken for granted by the ones you love... it's very truthful. it came out at a time where i needed a really uplifting song. and everything sounds better when mike ness is the one saying it.
