Surly and Dura Ace or Suzue?

So there's this guy I work with. We don't always get along. Sometimes I think it's because we're sort of alike, but mostly I think he's a moron. And for no good reason, this dude gets bike stuff from customers for free all the time. Some call it luck, others good timing. I just think I personally have chronic bad luck. Today's big score came from a bum. We get a lot of bums, and a few crazies, and generally no one wants to deal with them. I would have helped out the guy if I weren't on the phone, because sometimes I like that challenge. So this bum, he had this bum wheel that he probably stole. The bum wanted to get rid of it after dude told him how much it would cost to fix, and handed it to the dude. Sure the rim was crap, but the hub...

Fucking Dura Ace hub. That hub has a retail value of $160. A bum, with a Dura Ace hub, gave it to the guy I work with for free. I need a front hub. I know not many of you are aware, but the name Dura Ace means quality...that's the shit Lance Armstrong rides. I don't like Shimano, but I do like free Shimano.

I was just floored. I couldn't believe it. It wouldn't have been so bad, but about 5 months ago another customer GAVE him a COMPLETE Dura Ace set, all components AND a classic high quality road frame. Free.

He knows he doesn't need it, and he also knows that I do. I will admit that I was a little over-dramatic when he told me he got it for free, pouting and such, but I'm sure anyone would understand. So, I'm going to trade a Timbuk2 bag for the hub. I paid $30 for the bag, and I've been thinking about getting rid of it for a new one anyway, so I guess I don't really lose anything.

Ugh.
