(no subject)
i got bored...so I thought I would pop in and update everyone that I don't talk to about what is going on in my life. busy times, busy times. I have gotten most of my photography portfolio together to apply for the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and the School of Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) (incidentally, SAIC is where my sis just got accepted to. I am really excited, now that I actually have a chance of getting in.
I just got diagnosed officially with Discalcula a couple of days ago. According to the psychiatrist, I am currently stuck on a seventh grade math level. It is not that I havent tried, or I haven't paid attention. There comes a time, during every math class when i just can't understand what the teacher is teaching anymore. I also have problems with mixing up the signs (pluses and equals) when doing simple calculations. My brain tends to read things backwards. There are a gazillion more symptoms of this Learning Disorder which I will not bore with right now...but I have almost all of them.
In any case....(.net- sorry, inside joke), she basically said I should be exempt from any math classes, and if I am not, then I get special attention. The teachers will let me use calculators and scratch paper, and will also not be able to give me a time limit on tests. That part is strictly forbiden. It is such a relief. You have no idea. The past couple of days have been a whirl wind of emotion. I finally realized I can move on with my life. I can actually go to college, and i am good enough to get in. They can't look at my math scores anymore and tell me that I need to go to nova and work on them.
My scores in English have always been very advanced, and the English test that the doctor gave me proved that. so, those scores should carry me easily into the college that I want ( and of course a good portfolio.) alrighty, I am going to go to bed now.
