(no subject)
I'm mid-winter break and it's been nice to sit back and relax, knowing that there is nothing required of me other than having fun or being a bum. In the last week i've been to San Francisco, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz. thankfully, my car has served me well in these spontaneous roadtrips.
John Mayer Trio/Phil Lesh & Friends concert on New Year's eve absolutely blew me away. I didn't know what was more exciting: the music or the scarily tall minotaur that descended from the ceiling with his fire-inducing wooden stick. Seeing Ryan Adams in all his drunken glory jam with Phil Lesh was a happy surprise, and i thought they were good together though Judy claims that Ryan is too used to being a solo artist and doesn't know when to stop. Phil Lesh comes to Lupo's in February and I'll probably be going with Phil. Maybe this time i'll buy Grateful Dead panties while waiting in line with all the deadheads, and at least I'll know to wear flowers in my hair or wings this time. I was immediately labelled a "mayer girl" in San Francisco (excuse me, but i didn't know you had to have facial hair and/or weed and beer to appreciate phil lesh)
Went to Santa Barbara to visit nik.. and all i have to say is that HE LIVES THE CALIFORNIA STEREOTYPE! he just gets up in the morning, rolls out of bed and goes to the beach either to surf, play volleyball, or play ultimate frisbee, or all three. He gave Adria and I two surf lessons, and now i'm excited for my summer as a beach bum with terra. waves, here i come! maybe this time i'll actually be able to STAND on the surfboard before i fall off the board!
Visiting Jen at UCSC and watching her and all her hallmates getting drunk like college freshman and tripping all over themselves at their "dance parties" only made me miss perkins hall and the surprisingly similar experiences i've had being piss-drunk. (perkins hall people are quite a bit more awesome, though)
