[Uxie was a patient creature. He had taken a five-week course in Mu training honed his mind to tune out pain, to spam Endure hold fast until his body's natural processes made the aches and agonies recede. He was grateful to Dana for her intervention; there was absolutely nowhere else he would have rather been than safely tucked away from the world ( Read more... )

*action, guilty party on parade, harmless pixie mischief, discord for discord's sake, bob won't like this

In a way, that may have worked in Uxie's favour. Certainly, a ten-foot beast was intimidating, especially when you were as small as Uxie, and many would have been cowed by such a majestic creature standing over them.

Uxie, however, had known Arceus the Original One far before he'd known Bob the human. This was a rare glimpse of -- though he would never use the term himself -- mother, as he knew her. The same one who would scold a far-younger pixie for far more benign childish mischief, for letting his curiosity get him into things he oughtn't. For a brief, flickering instant, there was the desire to set his dignity aside, to reach up to mother and beg to be forgiven and cry about how much he was hurting.

As anyone with a mom can tell you, though, sometimes... few things were more formidable than a mother. The disappointment in her voice made it clear that this was not to be forgiven quite as quickly as his childhood misbehaviour -- this was a far graver act, and he was quite aware that he didn't deserve to be absolved quite so easily. So he remained where he was, small face turned up toward her.

I'm quite sure you know the answer to that, Original One, he replied. This time, at least, I do not meddle for curiosity's sake alone.

And so many hurt in the process! I hope you remember what happened when one of you meddled to much with human affairs. She was talking about Giratina of course, tossed from this dimension right into another for trying to kill and murder too many humans.

I can understand the fundamental purpose of your act, but causing them fear and panic is hardly a way to show them the error of their ways or to judge them. Arceus sighed, and her head grabbed the tiny sprite by the back of a neck what little he had, much like a mother cat with her kittens, moving as they talked.

What will you do now? You answer depending on how she would react, Uxie, so start talking.

Uxie had no intention of allowing himself to be swayed by threats of banishment. He was, after all, being of knowledge: not an individual entity, but one third of something greater. To take him away from this world would be to disturb the balance, to eliminate the one safeguard against Dana or Palkia growing out of control.

Think of it as a firebreak, Original One. Although I bring harm, the small, controlled destruction keeps everything from being consumed in the approaching wildfire. It was very hard to preserve one's dignity when one was being carried about like an animal, admittedly, but Uxie certainly intended to do his best. As for what happens next... that is in the hands of the humans. If there are those who will not be blinded by hateful things, if there are those who will not be swayed from their pursuit of the truth... then, Original One, I intend to be caught.

Perhaps if you saw how angry Bob could get Uxie or perhaps you already had. His answer, however admitted surprised her and she continued to walk outside.

..if that is so, you and I both know some of them would rather kill you with their bare hands. One would almost thing she sounded troubled by the very idea itself.

Then perhaps I will learn what it is like to die.

A vague, unconcerned smile crept across Uxie's face, though he knew Arceus wouldn't be able to see it past the solid yellow crest covering the back of his head. The members of this school will allow their brute impulses to overwhelm their reason. They'll perpetuate the same hatred that repulsed them. Their hands will be stained. They will have learned nothing. A very sad outcome, don't you think?

A sigh. Let us be clear, Uxie. I do not approve of this idea in the slightest. Should the outcome be as grim as you might say, then it may start a point of no return...

She chose her words carefully. But be careful. You throw fuel in the fire, taunting and then wondering why the outcome is as grim as you describe. Play too much and you'll get burned with the fire yourself.

You underestimate me, Original One! Naturally, I am prepared for whatever may happen. Do you really think the being of knowledge would act without regard to the consequences?

Perhaps things will end that tragically, but perhaps our beloved humans are worth a little more than that, hm? Perhaps they will have learned that violence merely begets violence, and perhaps they will extend the hand of forgiveness.

Tell me, Original One... what do you think of humans? Are they kind, or are they dangerous creatures?
