Minelli keeps a revolver in the hallway table, and makes sure to keep the drawer slightly open just in case he needs it. Really, he should have invested in a peephole, but things like that just slip your mind when you're divvying up property with the ex-wife.
"Who is it?" he says, while cracking the door open. In an instant, he's undoing the chain lock and pulling the door all the way, relaxing and putting on a smile. "Lisbon! Come in, come in."

"To what do I owe this joint visitation?" Not that he minded her popping in at all-hours. He welcomed it, in fact. His biggest regret in retiring was not getting to see Lisbon regularly. But he'd mostly rationalized it as being for the better good (and CBI's reputation).

"Busy week." Not that most weeks weren't busy, but this one had its additional stresses. Red John reappearing, for one. And though she'd always been determined to catch the psychopath, the deaths of Bosco and his team made it all more personal for her. Just the image of Bosco's lifeless body sent dangerous feelings through her core. But she figured Minelli had probably seen some of it on the news, and she wasn't eager to get him caught up in all of it again. He'd retired for a reason. Unless he asked, of course.
