"You need to leave here. It's not safe for you any more. I know you don't want to go home, but you can stay with me. I'll give you a job. And..." He drops her hands and cups her face between his palms, making her catch her breath. "Rose, you know the way I am. But for you I'll change. I can be faithful - I can even stop flirting." His mouth twists. "Actually, I pretty much already have. You'd be amazed, the way I am now. You know I love you, and I'm worried about you here, with him. Come with me?"

What's he offering? Is he saying...?

He is. He's not just asking her to come with him as a friend. But as a lover.

Still love this! Strikes right at my heart Jack trying to take Rose away. Believing the Doctor could hurt her. *sob*

Yeah, poor Jack... We know the Doctor never could, but all he's seen so far is one side of the new Doctor, and he has no idea what he's really like. Yet...

Aww, my heart just about broke when Jack asked Rose to go with him because he was afraid the Doctor would hurt her. It just goes to show how betrayed he feels, and how much the Doctor's anger has unsettled him. (Also how much he loves Rose, but that kinda goes without saying)

I also loved the way Rose dealt with Jack, not trying to get between him and the Doctor but trying to smooth things over, giving some perspective. It's good that she's going to try and get them to sort through it, because that much anger and betrayal is not healthy for either of them. Also, it's very in character for her - being proactive, rather than dithering around waiting for something to happen.

Perfect chapter!

Yes, Jack's feeling very hurt and betrayed. Not just because of the argument and the Doctor's accusations over Torchwood, but because of being abandoned. And Rose is now feeling torn between the two of them...

I'm glad you like the way Rose is behaving. :) I'd think by now that she's had a lot of practice at mediating between them. ;) Plus here she can see a bit of both sides. Right now she's angry with the Doctor for what she saw him do to Jack, but she also understands the source of his anger. And she's upset at Jack's job, but trying not to let that get in the way of the fact that he's her friend and she loves him.

Hope you like the next chapter too!
