I really am starting to worry about my Father's relentless hatred of magic. To get to the point where he was ready to kill a child....

I don't plan on that happening. I don't see why magic can't be used for good.

Those who use magic, are much like those who do not. There are more who would do so with good intention than bad - but also there are those who would indeed use it to ill. One must not judge the entirety of a race upon the few who badly portray it to the other.

I am well aware of that. Unfortunately, trying to explain that to my father is impossible. He made his mind up a long time ago.

Then he has made his mind up to put himself as prey to those who would protect their kind against wrongful extinction. In such a situation, it is difficult to say who is in the right,and who is in the wrong. In either case, many innocents will fall dead; unless something is done to prevent it.

Then see to it you put yourself in a place to prevent genocide, lest a child escape and grow to lead others in a quest to the utter destruction of your kind in retaliation.
