On being closed-minded...
It's funny. Sometimes the people that consider themselves to be the most logical and rational people are the most closed-minded. They rant and rave about religious conservatives being closed-minded, but when you disagree with their supposed logic, or try to have a rational conversation, they get just as illogical and insulting as the most narrow-minded people. And it's fucking hypocritical.
I consider myself to hold more to logical than religion. Not that I'm completely devoid of anything spiritual...I just lean more left than right. On social issues, as well.
Bottom line, whatever your viewpoints on ANYTHING, if you can't have a rational, civil disagreement (and I literally mean disagreement, where you DISAGREE, instead of arguing), you're fucking useless to me. Because it's arrogant and self-centered and so very WRONG. Because, I'm sorry, no one knows everything.
To categorically call me wrong or naive or stupid or childish -- how the FUCK am I supposed to have a rational conversation with that. Disagree with me, fine. But don't insult me. Let me speak, as I let you speak. I have a brain. I have an opinion. And I am perfectly capable of seeing reason.
