Sunshine

Sunshine is about 3/4 of an awesome movie. It gets kind of different in tone towards the end, but up until that, it's just my kind of sci fi...going to reignite the sun? The ship they're on? I should mention, I'm phobic of space. The sun is terrifying to me. This movie is hugely entertaining. I've watched it so many times despite the weird

I watched it because Danny Boyle directed and Cillian Murphy was in it. I enjoyed 28 Days Later too much not to.

The movie is just visually stunning, really. I can't stop looking at it.

I don't like the end, but up until that I think it's great. Just the tone and visuals get me.

yeah, that's what made 28 days later stand out for me (and what 28 WEEKS later lacked)

Yeah, I chalk that up to the director, I think. I have a hard time verbalizing what made 28 Weeks Later far inferior to 28 Days Later...it just felt so small and minor in comparison. 28DL was terrifying and creepy and intense, and 28WL just played like a standard horror flick.

it was... too formulaic
like, as soon as she said the thing about his eyes, i KNEW he would have an inherited immunity, so the surprise was gone
and of course he would live to infect the rest of the world

it was a shame, too, b/c i loved the actors in that one

Yeah, it had potential. It was an interesting premise, how they'd handle coming back. But, yes, formulaic is accurate. I want to see like...0 Days Later. That could be interesting.

that is interesting... they never show the initial panic, it was all aftermath

our apocalypse will be the initial panic AND THE AUDIENCE HAS TO GUESS THE AFTERMATH!

Yeah, it's interesting. I kind of want to know how it all went down.

Has the nature of the apocalypse been decided yet?

i haven't come up with anything
but i kinda like the idea that no one ever figures out exactly what's going on, things just start happening and escalate

i have some specific visuals in mind

As long as it's not killer plants, I'm cool.

Uh huh, PLANTS. And I just kept thinking of that SNL skit with Christopher Walken, where he's a gardener who is afraid of plants, and he puts googley eyes on them to be less scary. I kept giggling.
