My dad used to travel for business a week or two out of every month when I was a kid, and has accumulated more frequent flier miles than he knows what to do with. The airline he has these miles with is being purchased or restructuring or something and he's afraid his miles are going to expire, so he's using some and giving the rest away. This means a free trip for Alyssa and I. We had been planning a long weekend trip to New England before this (because neither of us have been there before) for our anniversary in February, but New England is damn cold in February/March and we've never been to northern California either, so we're looking to take a week in maybe March/April.
But.
We don't really know where to go specifically. I have a burning desire to see a redwood forest. We like camping and the ocean. Scenic drives. Good restaurants/cafes and bookstores. Not-too-touristy things. Tiny streets with statues of unexpected animals. The nicest proprietor of a food cart on the west coast.
So.
If you've been to northern California, you can help me out. Make some recommendations.
For that matter.
We're probably going to New England too, so if you've been there make some recommendations too.
