yesterday the band played a show in shamokin
which is to say, yesterday the band played a show in the middle of nowhere. however, the venue was quite nice and we played with
an albatross and
the swims, who in addition to being terrific bands, are also swell people. the capitol, which is where we played is basically the entire scene for a small galaxy of tiny ex-coal mining towns in the mountains of central pennsylvania, meaning there was a large crowd of highschool kids with studded bracelets and interesting haircuts, who came ready to rock and spend $8 on a t-shirt.
we made money on this show.
not a fortune, but it covered the gas it cost us to get there and back with room to spare, and we also got our name into a new scene, made some new friends/connections, and learned a lot by finally playing a show with two bands that thouroughly owned us in all aspects of live performance. i haven't had as much fun at a show as i had dancing like mad to the swims and freaking out to an albatross in, well probably ever.
we also got some hilarious footage on the road for our tour documentary, and a new band mascot; a traffic cone stolen from a highway rest stop at 2:30 in the morning.
this is what i want to do with the rest of my life.
