Scooping

What method do you use to scoop your betta? Long ago I used the net, shortly after deciding I hated it because it made me so scared of ripping fins. Afterward I switched to the tupperware scooping method, and it worked well for a year. But lately my betta has been so uncooperative it's not even funny. Every time I put the tupperware down into the water in preparation for the scoop, he avoids it like the plague or he jumps at it. He never used to jump at it. (When did he turn into such a jumper?) I used the net again tonight and he got stuck in it, so I've officially sworn off the net forever. I'm thinking maybe he's gotten too big for the current tupperware scooper and I need to get something bigger? What is your secret?
