It's that time of the year again, school time, which means that the household gets crazier. Now, missing the other half of a pair of shoes is not the best thing because that means mommy will get frustrated since she has to undress the little ones to match their outfit with the shoes. Some people might get annoyed at it but I personally adore it. I love how involved she gets with our children, to the point where a missing shoe can bother her. Well, she could only do this to Stellan though. Kai would be insulted, in my opinion if either of us tried to tell him what to wear.
Mornings in our household during the school year can be equated with a trauma room in the ER. Everything seems chaotic yet at the same time purposeful. There's the hard part, trying to wake the kids up despite sometimes, their protest or the faking the illness thing. I don't blame them. I've had days where in I didn't want to go to school as well. I don't think my wife anticipated that gene to be passed to our son though so she might not be too happy with me at the moment. But hey, I couldn't decide which genes got passed down. It just did. Anyway, breakfast, the most important meal of the day follows next. It would be the showering and getting ready part normally but since we have boys, the chances of their white shirts remaining white after breakfast is slim to none. So while I try to wrestle them out of bed, there's their mum, preparing breakfast. She usually makes a whole variety, that could probably feed a whole army. She argues that they might not be as responsive to breakfast if they were fed the same thing everyday, which, I admit is true. Whatever's not finished goes to my plate anyway so I have no complaints. Then it's the taking them to school. We usually go as a foursome to take them, playing I spy with Stellan as we drive. I stare at the rearview mirror occassionally to check if they're still there, as if they're leaving when obviously they're safely buckled in their seats. They're growing so fast that it is scary at times. I mean, next time I look, Kai might be in college already or Stellan in high school and that's a scary thought.
So that's how my mornings have been, how has yours been?
