On the upswing

Today has been a pretty good day. I slept in longer than I thought I would, but it doesn't really matter. We decided that Labor Day sales are a good time to get a grill, so we went to Lowes and did just that. On the way home, we found a big farmers' market and bought a few peaches and ears of fresh-picked corn, and a 22-pound box of apples. That's right - lots and lots of really great apples. Even Matt says so, and he's really picky. Some of them are very cute and small, but they're pretty much all being sliced to be dried and make yummy snacks for the months to come.

We got home, Matt put the grill together, and I finished The Forgotten Beasts of Eld (thanks for the correction, Alinta - didn't have the book in front of me as I typed last night. It's Patricia A. McKillip.) It was good, but I'm not sure I'm in the right mind frame to read the rest of the series right now. Maybe in a few months.

Anyhow, I finally finished my eternally long series between T'corin and Marrys for DR. I don't know why it took so long to get it all out of my head, but it's been like pulling teeth. I think it comes off well, though, and now I can move on to other things with them. I think I need to do something with M'kal and Amiri soon... I'm exempt of posting with M'kal while I'm on council since he's not a ranker, but I don't want people to forget about him entirely.

It's getting late, which means we ought to have dinner at some point, I think. Then maybe I'll figure out what my next M'kal story is going to be. I'm not sure whether to continue my theme of "anguish and pain" or give him some cheer as well. Who knows? Preferences? Maybe a bit of both? *rubs hands*

We'll just have to see.
