A surprising amount has happened in the last 24 hours. For someone who feels like I haven't been getting anything done, this should put an end to those thoughts, though I doubt it will. Here are the high points, presented as a numbered list because strangely enough, that works well for me.
1. I saw a flyer in the mail room the other day for someone who's moving and has to get rid of some things. We called pretty much right away, went over and looked at things, and have procured a washer, dryer, and propane grill for a grand total of $250. Woo us! Granted, the appliances don't match, and the dryer is old enough to have fake wood detailing, but it's all in very good condition and should serve our needs very well. Plus, you can't beat the price! So we'll be able to get those next week just before she moves. I have eight days to get all the appliances out of the laundry room. Think I can do it?
2. My Pampered Chef director called with info for a director out here who's willing to do hospitality for me (i.e. I get to go to their cluster meetings and get training info and all that stuff). They meet the third Tuesday of every month (do the math - that makes last night) and last night was their summer family picnic, so Matt and I went to a park and got to meet some people from the cluster. They seem like really nice ladies, even if the meetings are a bit far away. Jana, the director here, lives quite a bit closer to me, so keeping in touch probably won't be a problem.
This has two good points. A) Getting connected to a semi-social group is always good, and getting a nice quick kick in the seat about my business is also not unwarranted. B) Meetings on Tuesdays means that I can audit the course I'm interested in at the smeinary, which is on Monday nights. Lots of clusters meet on Mondays, so I was worried that I'd be missing either meetings or classes, but it seems that I'll be able to do EVERYTHING! MUAHAHAHAHA.
3. I spent a bit of time today digging up all the documents to send off our claim to the UHaul insurance people. It's amazing how a car title hides when you move. Anyway, found everything, scanned copies of documents and emailed them to him (much faster and easier than faxing for us, since we don't have a fax ourselves), so that's taken care of. Woo! Now we get to wait and see how much of it they'll pay for.
4. The cable guys came and fixed the living room jack, so we officially no longer have a big black cord running into the kitchen! Woohoo!
5. I found pretty much all of the recipes that I've gathered via phone and email (mostly calling home to ask Mom for a recipe for one of my favorites) on random little sheets and scraps of paper and put them all on index cards to be files in a recipe box. Go me!
So far, I have not:
- filed the above mentioned recipe cards
- worked on ANY writing
- made any PC phone calls or sent out any emails
- worked on my quilt this week
- paid any bills
But when it really comes down.... 5 things got done, and 5 didnt.... that's pretty good, right?
