So, yesterday my mom told me to go out and get something new to wear for high holidays. I looked EVERYWHERE, and couldn't find anything. Seriously. I went to Winners, The Gap, Zara, Aritzia, BCBG, French Connection, H & M, Guess for Marciano, Guess, Mendacino, and Anthropologie. It was exhausting, and quite a letdown. There was one dress I liked at Mendacino that they didn't have in my size, so I'm waiting for it to be brought into the location near me. It's a little pricey ($120), but it's really beautiful, and is made with good quality fabric, so it's not too bad. Also, quality pieces last longer. It's black and white on the top, with long sleeves, and then, from a bit above the bust line flares out to the knee in black silk. Very pretty, and chic. And, I'm thinking that because it has long sleeves I can wear it into the fall season easily. I couldn't find a picture of it (it seems Mendacino doesn't have a website), but I found a picture of a dress that is similiar in style.
I was hoping to find something cheaper, say around 30 or 40 dollars, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. While quality is good, it's nice saving money too. Maybe the fall dresses just aren't in stores yet. I'll probably have to look again in a week or so. Hopefully this dress I'm waiting for will look amazing on, and all my problems will be solved. Most likely I won't love it, and will just end up recycling something for last season.
I have no problem with recycling an old outfit. I assumed I would be doing that. It's not every day that my mom gives me the go ahead to buy a new outfit, especially of the fancy variety. I grab the chance when it's given to me. Also, I figure that if I get a really lovely outfit, I'll be able to wear it to other events too.
