I go away for a week, and half the house is upside down when I come back.
Okay, okay, only two rooms. My brother completely reorganised his room. It looks weird now. He got rid of his loft bed, and hasn't gotten a normal one to replace it yet. And his two computer desks and two computers have been moved into what was Mom's study, which is now the computer room. Alan's computers are sharing a desk (and a monitor at the moment), leaving one desk free for me and Saruman, or Alan and Kerrigan (his laptop). There's still a lot of tidying and setting up to do, and we're still not certain of desk arrangements, but the three of us who'll be sharing this room hope that it'll help us be more productive. That's the idea. Or rather, that's Mom and Alan's idea :) But I think it's a good one.
I'm sitting at that desk now. There's a window behind it, with a nice wide ledge outside. So, of course, my feline companion is sitting on that ledge meowing at me. I think she's forgotten that the window is incapable of opening.
I took this morning off to catch up on the internet. Some interesting things happened, such as
Ravelry having added new types of things to its "Friends Activity" feed (which meant that I had 340 unread items from that feed in my RSS reader... fortunately you can now select which things you want to know about, which should keep the load reasonable). Also, Interweave Press is having its annual
Hurt Book Sale. Mom and I have put in our order already, and this year it ships to Australia!
I finished Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrell, and bought and read Guy Gavriel Kay's Tigana. I finished Tigana halfway through my plane trip home, and spent the rest of the flight writing a review. I'll type it up and do a proper talking about the both of them at some point.
I had a great time in Melbourne - doing the tourist thing, getting a little work done, seeing old friends. I did take a few pictures at the wedding, I'll have a look through them tomorrow morning and see if there are any decent ones. Those of you who are friends with me on Facebook can see some of other people's pictures of the wedding. I'll try to remember to talk more about all that tomorrow. For now I'll just say that it was great fun, Ali's dress was fantastic, and it was a joyous occasion indeed :)
