8 More weeks

So, I feel that I have been very good about putting things into perspective. The other day when only one person fro my class assisted me with unloading the truck from our show, and whne I asked othe rtheatre majors to assist I was greeted with "Oh, I did that for a year, sorry" I was certainly pissed off, but I can put iot into the perspective of: "Betsy, these are college students, they don't really know the truth of hteatre being eventually we all need to help eachohte rout, or nothing will ge tdone. And I understand that others have classes and such.

But here is where I loose the patience. I am working at the concert hall on campus. All sorts of stuff. usherings, wardrobe, etc. i have bene doing this job for about 2 weeks or so. The manager of the buiilding, well he is a prick, and htat is to say the least. What bugs me, he is an adult. He has been doing this job for 6 years, he should be treating people, especially his students, better.

For instance, there is one student, yes she is annoying. One example. . . She keeps asking me quesitons about the space. I quietly look at her and ask: "Are you asking me? Sorry, I can't help you" LASt night, after she asked me the fourth space related question of hte night I tried, as politely as possible, though I know I was bitchy, to remind her that she has worked here longer, and if she has questions, mayhaps she should ask someone else. Now, everyone in the space hates her. Instead of firing her (and NC being a right to work state, you can fire someone for no reason) Or, instead of just not giving her calls. they all just trwat her like shit. I mean, they are really mean, INCLUDING THE AUDITORIUM MANAGER. THat is childish.

Last night, I asked him how he wraps zip ties (extension cords) Now, I know this may sound like a strange question, but it isn't. Everyone has they own way of doing it, and many people are quite specific. He calls to me, from the other side of hte stage and says. "Wrap it around and around and tie it in a knot. If you have difficulty I can explain it to you, some people can't hanle the speed of how I talk." Now, I know there is no tone to this right now, because I am typing, but there was a tone. No need for a tone, considering he has been sitting in his office for hte past 5 hours watching a movie.

Now here is the one that really annoys me. . . It probably shouldn't, but it does. We were heading out the usher the other day, and I grabbed my purse, which had my knitting in it. He called out "No kitting in the lobby" I let him know that I didn't plan to knit while patrons were coming in, but once the show started (and we are literally sitting around doing little to nothing other than directing people to the bathroom) could I knit then. He yelled out "No knitting in the lobby" I said fine. Now here is the thing, while we sat in the lobby doing nothing, my other usher co-horts were doing a miriad of things from sleeping, to texting, to playing video games on their phones. Which looks worse to you as an audience member.

I know, I know. . . I shouldn't let this stuff get to me, but it does. But the bonus, and back to the title of this post. I only have 8 more weeks, he is quiting, and won't that be a luxery. I also only have six weeks of living wiht the roomate. THen off to PSF< where I will have 3 roommates, but it is PSF, and it is the heights, and I am not in Brisson, and I am hoping to living with a designer who won't be around too much.

Okay, that's it for now, this was long, I am sorry.

luv to all
