It was too dark, even for her tastes. Of course, they'd always had low lighting when the Noah got together, but nothing was visible, here, except for a small patch of light ahead. Rhode Kamelot walked towards that light, as if it would somehow give her the bearings in this strange and dark place.
The air here was different, it was not the stuffiness of the House she had wandered into. She could hear the sound of water, somewhere, but had no idea where it was.
When she got to the light, she almost jumped, Lero was there. He/It was all crumbled up, with holes in the fabric of the umbrella.
"Lero?!" She called, leaning down to pick it up.
It rolled away from her, "No, Lero. You must...leave, Lero." It's voice faded away into nothing, and it fell limp.
There was another light ahead, dimmer this time than before. But she headed towards it, suddenly very aware of what the smell was in the air. Blood.
Skin Boric was there, but he was already dead. She knew that, though. Yuu Kanda. She would get her revenge for that, yet.
She felt as though she were the only living thing in the entire world. Her shoes clicked against the pavement ominously, the only sound except for the water. And then she ran into something, or, at least, it something with her foot.
She looked down.
"Fuck it all, Rhode," David rolled over on his side but it looked as if the action took all he had.
"We thought Lero told you to get the hell out of here," Jasdero finished, and, just as Lero had, they fell limp.
Rhode felt the tears fall down her face before she realized they had come. She pushed them anyway angrily - they were not hers, but the Noah inside of her. Maybe she really should turn back...
But she knew she couldn't. She had the sensation of panicking, all at once. What if --- no. She couldn't think like that. But the story was the same again as she found Lulubell.
She stopped. They kept giving her the same warnings. Go back, go back. She would be next. She had to make up her mind - face what was ahead or give up. She had not lived long enough to be the oldest child of the Noah to give up now.
Rhode picked up her steady pace again, the tic-tic of her heels seemed to echo against walls she couldn't see, as if they were curved. But it didn't matter, these were just things to preoccupy her mind with.
Cyril was holding onto the hand of a quite dead Tricia when she found him. Everything about the world he'd built up was there around him, a testament to his own failure. The maid, the dog, at least they looked like they had a quick and painless death. But Tricia...she was covered in blood. It ran from her head, her wrists, her chest. The smell was enough to make any human nauseous. Cyril hung on to her hand, crying. Tears of his own. He had never cared that much for her, had he?
"Rhode," He whispered, "Please, Rhode, get out of here. Allen...." He couldn't finish his warned, but she was at his side in an instant; an instant too late.
He had gone limp.
"SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON HERE!" She shouted, the echo of her voice bounced back again, and again, and again.
She ran forward. This giant black labyrinth seemed to have no way out, only more ways to sadness.
It wasn't Cyril, her adoptive father, who set her off though, it was Tyki. She screamed when she saw him, the wounds Allen had given him were biting at him with a nasty vengeance, his expression was all wrong. He was clinging to life as Cyril had held on to Tricia.
He looked up to her, not with Noah eyes, but with human ones. "Allen Walker will kill you, too, Rhode. G-get out of here."
As he, too, died, the tears that came were her own, and not her Noah's. Her knees felt weak, or perhaps, the rest of her just felt heavy. She sunk to the ground.
She could have died instead, she would have been fine with that.
She was shaking, and crying, burying her head into her hands. "I - Will - KILL YOU ALLEN." Her voice crescendoed and echoed back at her many times, and she covered her ears. "Stop it. Stop It. STOP IT."
When you lose everything, what are you supposed to do?
"Rhode~♡" Accompanied by a tap on her shoulder. The Earl. "Rhode~ Don't tell me you're giving up yet."
She looked to him, not even bothering to push away her tears. She didn't say anything.
"Nightmares can feel awfully real sometimes, can't they~?"
Her next scream was out of anger and frustration and she pushed the world around her away, far away. How had she been so. Damn. Stupid. She pushed the tears away from her face, and went looking. If this stupid place had trapped her in a nightmare, there would be others.
And they wouldn't be ready. She could go, and she would kill them.
Yuu Kanda was first. He had killed Skin, after all. All's fair in love and war.
