WHO: Gregory & Miles Edgeworth
WHAT: Epic meeting of father and son.
WHERE: The Library
WHEN: December 4, early night [backdated a bit]
HOW: On-going, closed though, unless you REALLY want to, in which case let me know. :D
Gregory Edgeworth had gone through a lot that day. He'd lost a case (not that it was anything new, really, and it certainly didn't affect him like it affected some), penalized von Karma, gone through a particularly bad earthquake, passed out, and arrived here, in this strange place, where people were talking to him as if years had passed, where Miles' voice sounded aged, grown up, nearly foreign.
Had time passed between those events? If it had, he hadn't taken notice in it.
Gregory Edgeworth had never thought there would be a time when Miles would sound strange to him. He had pictured that he would stay in his son's life as much as possible, to be available without being aggravating, to be a solid foundation for Miles to grown on, lean again, learn from.
What had happened in the passing years? If years really had passed, Gregory wanted to know about them. He wanted to hear what Miles had to say, wanted to see the way his son had grown.
Miles had asked that they meet in the library, and Gregory had quickly taken him up on the offer. Climbing the creaking stairs, Gregory realized his mind was racing -- he had never given thought to the future before. Gregory was the kind of person who lived every day as it came. He prepared for the future as was needed -- he'd been setting aside money for Miles' college fund from day one -- but he didn't think about it.
Now, standing at the library's entrance, Gregory could feel his stomach turning like he was back in his first trial. Could it really be true? Was Miles really, really older? Judging by his voice, Gregory would place him in his twenties, but was such a thing really possible? He shook his head, running a hand through his hair.
Slowly, he stepped in the door, looking around, trying to stay calm.
"Miles?" he asked, just loud enough to be heard.
