Of course I heard it on
Wait, Wait --- Don't Tell Me! --- because that's where I get all my news, dontcha' know --- and I Googled it.
Summary: More maternal pregnancy sickness = higher offspring cognitive function.
Here's
the research itself, and found many references to similar theories, which relate it to the fact that non-sick early pregnancies more often result in miscarriage: a female host who gives more of her energy to the developing embryo results in a sicker host and a stronger fetus/baby.
And then when you're done puking and gaining the 30 lbs. you get to breastfeed and cloth-diaper the result for the next three years.

I know, I know, everyone's kids are more intelligent than average, whether you/your partner were sick or not. So I don't expect to find any anecdotal evidence on this. But has anyone heard of this theory or endorses, at least empirically, its validity?
[and yes, i was royally sick for months and months, both times. You need ask?]
