Hmmm. the possessive "my" is messing me up.

My high school held a junior (11th grade) prom, which I attended and hated. My high school also held a senior prom which I did not attend and never missed. However I did attend my boyfriend's senior prom that year (he went to a different school) and had a bitchin time.

I actually had a good time at my senior prom. Surprised the hell out of me; I didn't think I would. It was also my first date. :-/

I put "something unorthdox" etc, but my same gender date was actually a date.

In 1972 the only people who attended proms were the straight laced types who never questioned the status quo and approved of Nixon and the Vietnam War. A bunch of us went to the house of a friend whose parents were out of town and smoked weed, played guitar and sang political songs.

My junior year I was determined not to go even though my mother wanted me to. No one had asked and I hadn't any interest, but at the last minute I agreed to go stag with a girl in my Spanish class. She wanted to meet her boyfriend at the dance,but her parents had forbidden her from dating him and would only allow her to go as part of a group, so she asked if I would go with her and share a hotel room, and for some reason I said yes
