Steve just reminded me that I never posted pics from Sydney. While I would love to procrastinate and really narrate these and all the other things I've been doing, I really have too much work to finish. I've got 5 papers due in less than two weeks, but it's okay, because that's my whole semester. I can't believe it's almost over! I hate to say it, but I really don't want to go home. I love my friends, I love my family, I love Shaun... but I really love Melbourne, too. Oh well, at least I know I'll look back on it all as a good experience.
Anyway, Sydney... was pretty cool. I'm lucky that I was able to tag along with Sarah and Jill. I wasn't so close with them, they're more Britt's friends, but we got along well on the trip and were all satisfied with our take on Sydney. We saw the Harbour Bridge, and Sarah and Jill climbed it (I took photos from the pier for about $200 less). We went to the Taronga Zoo. We saw a vaguely anti-American play at the Sydney opera house which featured two naked men in very close proximity to our seats - which were, thanks to my enthusiasm for the arts, right on stage. We went to the top of the SkyTower, and looked over the city at night. We rode the ferry to Manly Beach. We didn't drink any alcohol. I ate fish and chips in Darling Harbour, and spent the money I would have spent at bars (and more!) shopping at perhaps the best markets I've seen in Australia. It was a really fun weekend, and now I can say that I've been to Sydney. But Melbourne is better.
My plans for the rest of my time here:
29 May - 5 June: New Zealand
6 - 14 June: Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef
(My 17 year old cousin William is meeting me there on the 10th and then coming back to Melbourne for a few days!)
15 -24 June: packing and partying in Melbourne
24 - 30 June: Honolulu, Hawaii with Shaun!!! ♥
I'll be home July 1st.
