Mostly, because I never write in it. I usually don't have a whole lot to say but I do enjoy reading about everyone else.
Every now and then I do like to check in with a post, though.
I'm up fairly early on a Sunday morning - C has a church gig this morning, and then a wine party gig this afternoon. I'm going to the wine party but decided to skip out on the church gig. I may head to Mass here in town but I did not feel like going to the church where he's playing.
It's been a busy weekend so far, I suppose.
1) Yesterday I baked about 12 dozen cookies to give to the assorted family and neighbors who helped us out when 2 of our trees blew down in the horrible windstorm a few weeks ago. C and I were so grateful for their help - chainsaws, pickup truck, hauling debris off our driveway, etc - we wanted to thank them but had difficulty coming up with the "right" way to do it. I hope they enjoy the cookies - C sampled them and said they were great.
2) While I was baking, we watched OSU beat Minnesota. It's nice to have Big Ten football back on. We are pleased to report that the Big Ten network is part of our cable - we didn't even have to pay a premium (not that we would).
3) In the evening, we went to a blues concert in the itty-bitty town just down the road. It was a benefit for the local domestic violence shelter. I've gone the past few years and really enjoy the music and atmosphere. They had some pretty well-known national acts play - the guys last night were awesome! Also, they serve ribs, red beans and rice, cornbread, etc. SO GOOD!
4) Of course, last night we watched more of the Cosby Show marathon that's been on TV Land. I miss the Cosby Show.
In other fun news, my best friend and her family are coming to visit this week. They should be getting here tomorrow or Tuesday, and are staying a day or two. They have 3 little boys who I'm anxious to see. She lives in Philadelphia and I usually only see her about once a year. This year we've been lucky - it will be the third time this year (and probably the last until next May). Maybe I'll save the boys some cookies!
We have of course been getting swept up in the political hoopla of the season. Let's just say we are watching things unfold eagerly, and that the selection of Sarah Palin did not at all influence me to change who I am voting for. (I don't feel like figuring out how to end that sentence without a preposition. Sorry!) Not that I usually keep my political feelings/opinions secret or anything.
This seems like forever ago - but C and I did have a FANTASTIC time in Alaska. We highly recommend going there if you like hiking, moose, mountains, kayaking, glaciers, the Russian Orthodox Church, salmon, the Gold Rush, frontier folk, espresso, and wildflowers. You can look at pictures of our trip here:
