Well I'm in a wee bit of a better mood today... my kids always seem to have that effect on me. It's like I can't possibly hear their stories and then feel that sorry for myself ya know? :o) Just a little... lol
Used my pool today finally... Mom showed up and was like, "Let's go to the pool!" so we did. LOL We hung out there for an hour and a half or so until I needed to get ready for Ele's and she had to get over to
Common Ground to get in line so she could grab a spot for us. *Seating is all general admission and you take chairs or blankets to sit on*
Group went much better tonight... I had 10 kids, two of them brand new tonight. Both of the new girls kind of pissed me off *chuckles* but they all did a pretty good job considering our group is so new right now. We made it through circle without too much trouble... one of the new girls decided she didn't want to talk, didn't want to pass, and didn't want to give us the ball back either LOL ("Circle" is what we start with each night where the kids take turns going up to the picture board and they tell who it was that died and if they have a picture on the board of the person they point to it. Then I usually ask them to share a special memory or something... The person who is talking gets to hang on to this smiley face ball stuffed animal thing which means they're the "talker.") After circle we read the book My Many Colored Days by Dr. Suess and talked about feelings... *laughs* the part of the book that talks about black days and wanting to howl, I had the kids howling... hahaha so cute to have ten kids howling on cue. :o) The parent group next door must have loved it *snort* Then I held up pictures of faces that I drew that had different feelings on them (grumpy, sad, happy etc.) and the kids got to decide what each guy was feeling according to how his face looked. Then finally they drew their own feeling faces and shared them with the group. :o)
After debriefing I shot out of there and dashed downtown (Ele's is pretty close to downtown right now, just two minutes or so by car) and found somewhere to park so I could meet mom. As I was about to walk across the bridge to get on the side of the river that the West Main Stage is on Journey came on and the crowd went wild.
This is of course where the mystery of the two steves comes in... So yeah, after I find mom in the crowd I'm standing there looking at Steve and going, "Who the hell said Steve Perry wasn't going to be here?" And we were all confused. Some people say it was Perry, others say it was O'Jerry... but yeah, who ever it was sounded, looked, acted and pretty much all around was freakin Steve Perry! LOL He was really good... and if it wasn't Perry, then damn... how the hell did they find this man? :o)
Steve (whichever he was lol) was pretty comical though running around in his much too tight clothing, and at one point I was cracking up all by myself because in many ways he reminded me of Howie. *snickers* No seriously... they were singing some song from their boxed set and it was this latin inspired Santana kind of song (that went on for way too damn long btw) and I was just waiting for him to bust out and do the Howie salsa. *snorts* He almost did actually. Mom looked at me and is like, "What?" LOL I then snorted and told her, and she laughed and we both did a little Howie move and cracked up. Hehehe
I text'ed
Bobbi a few times during the concert *giggles* cause I can't possibly hear Open Arms or Faithfully anymore without thinking about her. :o) If you haven't read the
A Day in The Life Trillogy... get over there now! :-D Hell, I might go back and read Faithfully again just because hehehe...
Anywho... the concert was fun. I didn't scream at all... LOL :o) But it was cool... Mom and I both were shocked to know that Journey is still making records. *raises an eyebrow* We were like "Uhh... okay!" LOL And I have to say that going to concerts of retro rock bands is pretty good people watching material because you get all of these guys playing air guitar and air drums... hehehe cracks me up.
Tomorrow night is Country Night where I get to see Phil Vassar again! *grins like a dork and sings* "Just another day in paradisssssssse!" hehehe We're planning on getting in line early so that we can get as close as possible, and with any luck I'll be able to get some worthwile pix this time. I want to get a pic of that Tonya chick who plays keyboards for Jamie O'Neal so that you
Shades of Gray readers can see how she's totally Skylar :o) And of course I want pix of Phil! :o)
Okay... got mail to check now... :o) Later!
