Disclaimer: Not mine. I don't own anything, but the plot.
Authors Note: Hmm, I think this one turned out a little better than the last, but I'm not sure I'm all that happy with the ending. I really need to work on my endings haha.
Scotland really wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. There was no Scottish music playing in the background like in the movies, and there were definitely no people dancing around in the middle of the streets without a care in the world.
All those letters and videos sent to Sid were all lies. None of them told him the truth - and not one of them showed how she was truly feeling.
Bloody rotten.
Her parents were still ignoring her, and she was yet to make any real friends, like the ones she had back home in Britain.
There was no Chris, Maxxie, Anwar, or Tony to make her laugh.
There was no Michelle and Jal to confide in.
And of course there was no Sid - to love.
Cassie reached for her cell phone which was lying on her bedside table, turned off. She once again slowly punched in the oh-so familiar number.
No matter how many times she dialled the stupid number, she just couldn’t bring herself to press the send button.
Sid hadn’t called in months, nor had he written.
It was like he hated her. Almost like he wanted nothing to do with her.
“Oh bloody hell,” Cassie mumbled to herself as she jumped off her tiny, single bed.
If Sid wasn’t going to talk to her, then she would take that long road back home and face him. Finally.
It had been pretty cowardly for her to run off like she had months back. Even after reading his little note that Tony had given her, she still ran. As far away as possible.
But now she was going to do what she should have done all those months ago. She was going to ask him what the fuck was going on.
--------------------
The road home was quite a long one. It almost seemed like it took longer to get away from Scotland, rather than going to it.
Cassie turned her head as she looked out the train window. It was raining, just like it always did and for some strange reason it gave her a warm feeling. It was the feeling of being home.
Twenty minutes later, the train finally pulled into the brightly lit station, and opened its doors for the passengers to exit. Ahead of her, a mother and her young boy shuffled down the isle towards the bathroom, and quickly ran into the first empty one.
Outside of the train the luggage was being unloaded and the passengers were pulling their hoods up overtop of their heads in attempt to keep dry.
Cassie smiled as she slung her white tote bag around her shoulders, and stepped out into the cold rain.
“Lovely,” She whispered, as a large grin took over her face. The butterflies in her stomach were already starting to take flight, by ricocheting off her ribs. It was a familiar feeling she got when thinking about Sid.
Quickly Cassie made her way through the packed train station, weaving her way through families reuniting, and people looking for their luggage.
Once outside, Cassie gripped onto her bag tighter as she took in the very familiar sight. The pub right across the street and the large mansions just down the street where her and her friends had spent endless nights partying it up with the rich kids.
Now, the only thing she wanted to see more than anything was the green door which leads into Sid’s house. Oh how she had missed that door she had knocked on so many times.
Hailing a cab, Cassie shook out her long blonde hair as she hopped into the back seat.
“Alan? Oh wow! How lovely,” She smiled and leant forward. Alan, who had driven her to all of her check-ups, was sitting behind the drivers’ wheel.
He chuckled and put the van in drive. “So you’re back kid?”
“Oh yes,” Cassie nodded, and crossed her legs at the ankles.
“I figured you’d be back,” He smiled and looked up into the rear-view mirror. “That’s an awfully long road to travel by yourself. Where are your parents?”
She shrugged her shoulders. “At home. They don’t know I’m here - but it’s very important.”
A small smile appeared on her lips. Just thinking about the boy, it warmed her up on the inside. His black toque, thick rimmed glasses, and grungy clothes - things she had never known she missed so much.
“Can you take me to Sid’s?” She asked, tears welling up. Sniffling, and forcing whatever tears were about to fall back, she put on her smile and turned to look out the window.
“Of course.”
--------------------
Here she was, standing on the very door step where they had shared many of their kisses. Her hand was raised in mid air, clenched in a fist. All she had to do was pound on the door, and then Sid would appear.
Just like magic.
“One, two…” She whispered under her breath, bringing her fist closer to the door with every count.
“Thr-” Suddenly, someone burst through the door, pushing Cassie to the side of the stoop.
“And you bloody stay out!” Shouted someone who sounded like a father figure. Averting her eyes from the front door to down the walk way, her eyes landed on a boy.
Not just any boy… her boy.
Cassie opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out.
She watched, muted as Sid hung his head and continued on his way to some unknown destination. He was getting away, just like she had gone away.
“Sid!” She shouted, louder than necessary.
He lifted his head, and moved his eyes from the ground to her tiny figure standing in the shadow of the trees next to the door. “Cass?” He asked, his tone sounding almost unsure.
“Surprise!” She spread her arms out to her side, and grinned.
Sid was silent. His brows were knitted in confusion. “Oh… wow. You’re not surprised to see me,” Cassie mumbled, as she dropped her arms back to her sides. Bending down, she took a seat on the cold ground and placed her elbows on top of her knees.
He sighed, and started to make his way closer to her hunched over form. “No, that’s not it. Cass…” He paused, trying to find the right words. “Cass. How come you’re here?”
Looking up into his brown eyes that were hidden behind his glasses, she shrugged her tiny shoulders. “I thought you would want to see me.”
“Right well… ah, shit. Cass-”
She cut him off, by pressing her lips to his. Sid sat motionless, in shock as she kissed him for the very first time in months. She had missed his kisses more than anything. He was so awkward, and she loved it.
After a few moments, Sid pulled away. “Cass,” He trailed off, looking down at his shoes.
She jumped up, now full of life. That kiss would keep her high for the next few months. That was all she needed - to see him, and to know that he was still real.
“Bye Sid,” She whispered, bending down once again to place a quick peck on his lips. And with that, she skipped down the walkway, and around the corner, and back to the train station.
Meanwhile, Sid still sat on his doorstep, completely in awe. Cassie had come back - for a kiss. And now she was gone.
“Bye Cassie,” He said aloud, to the darkness. “I love you.”
