driving home from Baton Rouge
So I decided to come back to LJ. Since I've moved I've felt a little disconnected to the north east life I used to have (for obvious reasons) so I'm hoping this is a good way to keep in touch.
I live in New Orleans now!!! For love, for work, for love of my work, for change, for happiness, for lots of reasons I chose to move. But I've explained myself so many times there's no need for me to anymore.I'm happy here. Extremely happy. No other explanations are needed.
My new apt is incredible. Complete with a back porch with a bench swing and ceiling fans above. (Summer heat in Louisiana is no fu*kin joke)
My job is the best thing that's ever happened to me. Its intense. I pretty much work for the marine corps of community service. We do jumping jacks, yell, scream, chant, and spend every day building communities in New Orleans and Baton Rouge by working in schools and doing physical service projects is neighborhoods.I've met the most inspiring, insightful, sincere young men and women I could even imagine existed. Every day I go home from work completely exhausted and drained mentally and physically - its a feeling the brings me down and refreshes me all at the same time. I really can't say enough about this crazy thing called City Year.
I do miss home. But mostly just people. And moms cooking. All I've been eating is cereal and sushi.which isn't miserable, but I'd really appreciate moms apricot chicken or chicken maroni any day.
