I'll rustle YOUR purple curtains
When I left Target last night, I got in my car and broke out into song. It wasn't a song I already knew... just some freeform (re: crap). I was just singing for the sake of singing. After about a minute, I had hit on some melody I really liked. I worked out some lyrics to go with... the whole affair was moving, and sounded a bit like Neutral Milk Hotel.
When I got home, I played the melody out on the piano a few times, so I wouldn't forget how it goes. And then I promptly forgot how it goes.
I remember some of the lines ("leave everyone else startled as we suddenly leave") and I remember a bit of the melody (started on an A, warbled around, hit a Gb and warbled, landed on an Eb and went up a bit)... but I can't get any combination that sounds familiar... or even GOOD. I can't use what I remember and come up with a melody that sounds good... but it WAS perfect. It WAS a part of me.
