ESS Crosspost: my makeup application step-by-step

May 15, 2006 12:36

I'll be showing how I did this look--

Please be warned....I used a million pix for this!! Most of them are not too large, but a few are.

--BLANK face. cleaned & moisturized...nothing else!

I'll give you a few minutes to settle from the shock of my bare face. :-p he heee

--ahhhh how I love my Mary Kay liquid foundation :-D Isn't this a remarkable difference?

No pic--Mary Kay Eye Primer applied to my eyelids.

--This is some destroyed Kryolan yellow stuff. Poo on the post office. But I use it anyways. That is my 239 MAC brush, and I'm putting this straight on my inner lid as a yellow-colored base.

--both eyes here

--next I'm using my non-destroyed Kryolan blue stuff as a blue-colored base. :-D It was a wonderful gift from Amy of Shrinkle. ♥ Again I'm using my MAC 239 brush here. (a seperate one, since I have THREE now and I can use one for each different main color!! yay!)

--applying...

--right eye

--here's how it looks at this point

--In this pic I'm picking up some MAC Spring Up (LOVE!) with the 239 brush that I used for the Kryolan yellow in my first color step.

--applying Spring Up--a sparkly pastel yellow *droooool*

--see here, on your left the Spring Up shadow is applied over the yellow base, and has not yet been applied to eye on the right. I am not worried about blending anything yet.

--the next eye--still not really blended

--picking up some Pure Luxe Shameless (LOVEEEE!!) with the 239 brush that I used for the Kryolan blue

--I'm putting it in the middle of my lid here. it'll be over the place where the yellow & blue bases met

--prettty color & unblended line

--picking up some MAC Belle Azure with the same 239 brush that I'm using for blues.

--applying to the outer corner & crease

--now everything is shimmery

--picking up my FAVORITE highlighter of all time, L'Oreal On The Loose Sugar Coated, with a clean MAC 239 brush.

--here I'm dabbing little piles of it under my brow.

--not yet blended down

--same step on the other eye...

--both eyes still unblended

--I don't have a pic of the product, but here I applied L'Oreal On The Loose Mystified over the Sugar Coated. I felt like the Sugar Coated was too harsh white, so I used a pale semi-shimmery pink over it. Blended down a little.

--Mystified applied to the other eye, and blended with the blue a little. For this, I used my finger, and I LIGHTLY rubbed back-and-forth the area where the blue & pink/white met.

--picking up MAC Sushi Flower with this tiny MAC 228 brush.

--applying the Sushi Flower under my lower lashes. I think this brush is great for this purpose. :-)

--MAC Blue Horizon liquidlast liner applied. *I used the brush that's in the tube, but I've decided to only use a seperate brush from now on. The little brush on the wand in the tube is NOT user-friendly. So, this liner could look better.

--applying MAC Smoulder black eye kohl on my lower waterline. I am able to do the lower waterline with one hand, but it's easier to use one hand to gently pull down your lower lid, and the other hand to use the pencil.

--comparing: eye on left has the black kohl on the waterline; eye on right does not.

--combine these two pix in your mind to see how I line my upper waterline. I just need both hands to do it, and I couldn't take a pic like that lol So, I gently press up my upper lashes, to expose the upper waterline, and then I use the pencil in my other hand to line it. It takes some practice to: 1) get used to the feeling and 2) get the hang of it without blinking all the time

--both eyes with upper & lower waterlines lined with black eye kohl

No pic--mascara applied :-)

--I've blended till I'm satisfied with it, and now the eyes are done. :-)

lol big pic cuz I was really happy with the particular shot

--Tropical Bird?? What would you call it?

All done!!!!
Tell me your thoughts, please! Or, if you see an easier way of doing something, please let me know. :-)
