I totally got to touch the TARDIS yesterday. :D!!! The really real one. My cities are magic.
They were filming in Newport city centre last night, rather than Cardiff, but as Newport is (sadly) my real home city I knew exactly where it was from just a rather hazy photo, because the street in question is where Mam parks whenever she goes into town. Anyway, went to have a nose and there was what was very obviously the TARDIS under sheets. Some bloke takes half the wrapping off when he starts to fix it on a ladder with superglue, so I decide to be cheeky (as you may have previously noticed, "What are they going to do, say no?" is a guiding principle of mine) and go up to speak to him.
Me: "Hey, this is ridiculously geeky, but... can I touch the TARDIS?"
Him: *cheerfully* "Go for it."
Me: *beamy* "Cheers!"
And then they started to set up properly, so I got moved on, but I still got some photos. They'll probably appear eventually.
Emma, Michelle, Gareth and I came back much much later from Cardiff (taxis each way. We must have been insane.) and saw the actual filming. The street was filled with ridiculously pretty-looking fake snow, and David was there -- so I am now officially off the hook with Michelle for meeting him previously without her, as I found him for her and she has now heard him be Scottish with her very own ears. <3 Anyway, there appeared to be three companions with him - a blonde woman, a younger dark-haired white guy and an Asian girl. There was also a random robot which looked vaguely like WALL-E but with a humanoid top half.
THERE WAS ALSO AN OOD. :D
A random Ood of random in the snow. Gareth reckoned it had the Ood Sigma insignia on. Anyway, that was rather cool, but that was about all we could see/hear. Still, it was fun.
In other news: I managed to get an infected wisdom tooth because of having caught the flu. That was FUN. However, I now have antibiotics of serious win and am in practically no more pain whatsoever. I still have an absolutely fantastic cough (it is the most disgusting thing, seriously), but that's about the only sign that I've been sick for the last week and a half. I even have my appetite back! I FEEL LIKE A REAL LIVE PERSON AGAIN. OMG.
It was my mum's birthday today, and we had a belated Pancake Day this lunchtime (mmmf) went down the Bay to celebrate. Gorgeous Italian restaurant, complete with chocolate fountain (MMF!) and opera singing waiters. Yes, really. I don't much like opera, but they were actually very good. Apparently the planned trip to see Mary Poppins in the Millennium Centre with her work has fallen through, but now she and I are planning to go off and see it on our own. :D Good tiems.
And finally: well, shit,
scans_daily. Fuck you too, Peter A. David and Marvel (who are apparently the reason it got shut down). *mourns it bitterly*
But dude, I got to touch the TARDIS. :D
